Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Calibration
Why is Calibration Important?
Most new and newer vehicles in Canada are equipped with some kind of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) feature. These systems operate via a camera mounted on the windshield that warns drivers of impending dangers and also assists in making driving easier and reducing driving fatigue by car manufacturers.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems require proper calibration performed by trained professionals in order to work properly. Calibration brings the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems back to the original manufacturer’s specifications. Proper calibration is essential since the front-facing cameras are displaced during a windshield replacement.
These are the most common ADAS Systems used by car manufactures

This system will notify the driver if the vehicle changes lanes without the driver signaling, and it will initiate a corrective steering response to bring the vehicle back within its lines.

This system alerts the driver, by sound, vibration, or both when the driver initiates a lane change without activating the turn signal.

If a driver approaches the vehicle in front of them too closely, this system, which detects the distance between the vehicles, notifies the driver by a visual and/or audible warning in order to prevent a collision.

Similar to the Forward Collision Alert system, this system warns the driver with an audible warning and also applies the brakes to avoid a collision if the driver fails to do so.

The Adaptive Cruise Control adapts the speed of the vehicle in order to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of it.
Type Of Calibrations
There are two types of calibrations - Static and Dynamic. The required process varies depending on the vehicle. A certified technician performs the required calibration with specialized equipment specific to the vehicle.

Static calibration is complex and must be performed in-store within a controlled environment. Our certified technicians calibrate the camera, among other things, using sophisticated electronics, including a laser, to obtain absolute precision according to the predetermined standards of the vehicle manufacturer.

Dynamic calibration works with a portable electronic device that plugs directly into the vehicle's OBD II port. Calibration is performed according to the manufacturer's instructions such as driving at a specific steady speed, specified distance and favourable weather conditions.

Please note that some vehicles, including Hondas, require both types of calibration in order for the camera to be recalibrated properly and to manufacturer specifications.
What Does It Cost To Have My Camera Calibrated?
